WELCOME TO LATIN 2! (Sent via email)
Dear Latin 2 Parents and Students,
I would like to extend a warm welcome to each of you for the 2023-24 school year. As a returning tutor here at PEP, I continue to feel honored to be part of this wonderful homeschool program and am delighted by this group of students who will be furthering their study of Latin with me this year. It is my hope that each student will continue to grow not only in knowledge but also in appreciation of Latin, the most influential language in human history.
Our study of Latin 2 will continue the relevant, rigorous, and incremental Latin instruction begun last year. Students will begin the year with a review of the essential points of grammar from Latin 1. We will spend our first quarter looking back at basic verb conjugations, noun declensions, and adjective formation. Afterward, we will pick up our study where we left off last year in the textbook. We will continue adding to our vocabulary and to our knowledge of Latin grammar concepts including the remaining noun declensions and verb conjugations. This course features original Latin writings and access to the works of great Latin authors. Translating stories of Roman culture, myths, and history will help make Latin come alive, even in our modern world.
Attached to this e-mail you will find the class syllabus, which includes a list of the supplies that students will need to have on-hand for each class. Please print a copy of the syllabus for your student to bring on the first day of school. All assignments, tests, project information, and other additional resources can be found on my website which is located at www.hollandpep.weebly.com. I would also like to encourage you to check your student’s grades regularly. I will post the grades as soon as possible so that you can stay informed of your student’s progress, as well as be aware of any missing assignments.assignments.
Please know that I value your input and communication as a parent and hope that you will feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. I can be reached by phone at (904) 962-2844 or by e-mail at dfholland58@gmail.com
Again, thank you for entrusting me with the privilege of teaching your student. I am looking forward to all that the Lord has ahead for us in the upcoming school year and am anticipating much joy and growth ahead.
In Christ,
Dabney Holland
