WELCOME TO CULTURAL GEOGRAPHY! (Sent via email)
Dear Geography Parents and Students,
I would like to introduce myself and welcome you to Cultural Geography Core A for the 2023-2024 school year. As a returning tutor here at PEP, I continue to feel honored to be part of this wonderful homeschool program and look forward to meeting each of you in person. As a mother of six children, I understand that partnering with parents in training their children to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength is a high calling, and certainly one that we at PEP do not take lightly. I am excited about the opportunity to participate in encouraging each student to grow into a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Author of all wisdom and the Source of all knowledge and understanding.
Our study of geography this year will supply a foundational ingredient in your commitment to provide your student with a well-rounded, Christ-centered education. Our class will include a survey of the earth and its resources, of the use of those resources, and of the geographic and cultural features of people in the various regions and countries of the world. Students will learn how physical geography affects the political and economic features of countries as well as the way of life of their people. In our class devotionals, we will spend time praying together for the spiritual needs of the people in featured countries around the globe so that students will learn how to pray effectively for their world. Most of all, students should develop a new appreciation for the wonders of God’s creation and the responsibilities of the mandate that God has given them to exercise dominion over it.
You will want to read over the class syllabus which includes a list of the supplies that students will need to bring to class each day. The Quarterly Overview will show the text chapters and class discussions planned for the first quarter. It may be necessary to make some adjustments to the schedule along the way, but I will be sure to update you regarding any changes that are made.
Each chapter that we cover in the text has a corresponding study guide which students will need to print out at home to fill in as they read through the assigned pages. They should bring the study guide to class so that they can easily check the answers as we discuss the material. The study guides, as well as the weekly assignments, tests, project information, and other additional resources, can always be found here on weebly.
Please know that I value your communication as a parent and hope that you will feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I can be reached by phone at (904) 962-2844 or by e-mail at dfholland58@gmail.com.
Again, thank you for entrusting me with the privilege of teaching your student. I look forward to seeing each of you at Orientation and anticipate much joy and growth together in our year ahead!
In Christ,
Dabney Holland
